Free access to My SOS Family for all policyholders*

For all policies sold on or after the 9th September 2024 we're including a 6, 12 or 18 month licence for My SOS Family for all insured.

What is My SOS Family?

This app offers a number of features including:

Checking In:

A quick and easy way to check in with members of your family when you change locations, clicking one button allows you to share your location at that point in time, some text and an image of video.

Keeping Safe:

Going out at night, alone, on a date, or a solo trek? You can set up a safety blanket by setting an emergency timer on your phone, if you don't disable the timer before the time runs out the emergency alerts outlined below will automatically be triggered. You'll be able to add both text and an image (for example where you are going or who you are meeting) that'll only be sent if the emergency is triggered.

In an Emergency:

You can define as many emergency contacts as you like. By default, the system will contact all your contacts at the same time in the event of an emergency, though, you can change this to be in a defined order if you prefer. Once one person picks up that person will become your designated contact for the emergency (particularly useful when you may be travelling in a very different time zone from your family).

When you manually trigger an emergency you can opt to simultaneously trigger an emergency services call. As standard there is a 15 second delay before contact is made, though, this can be skipped if needed. You can attach both text and an image, your location will also be provided as a google maps link. You can also choose to share a live location for between 15 minutes and 8 hours with the person that becomes the designated contact.

Your emergency contacts will receive a phone call, a SMS and an email. Once one person picks up it will notify those that didn't that someone is already handling the issue, and, if you end the emergency it will notify everyone the emergency is over.

Please note that while the system works best with internet on your phone, the system falls back to using an SMS system to trigger the alerts to your family, so, as long as you have a basic signal you can request assistance.

How to I get my free licence?

Log in to your customer zone, via your free Outbacker account or through the link in your welcome email, and request one. Our system will allow you to request one licence voucher per insured. You'll then need to download the app.
